Last oral arguments of the term, no conference, this week

David S. Ettinger June 2, 2025

On Wednesday and Thursday, in Los Angeles, the Supreme Court will hear arguments in the seven cases on its June calendar. These are the last arguments of the 2024-2025 term. The court will take its usual summer break from hearing cases, not returning to the courtroom until the second week of September.

The arguments will be live streamed. Most of the opinions in the cases should file by August 28. However, in one case (People v. Superior Court (Guevara), newly ordered additional supplemental briefing (see the update here) won’t be completed until after the argument, which will delay submission of the case and, therefore, push back the opinion’s due date. (See here.)

Because of the oral arguments, the court will not be conferencing (also here) this week and there will be a double conference next week.
