On Monday, the Supreme Court will file its opinion in United Riggers & Erectors, Inc. v. Coast Iron & Steel Co., which was argued on the large March calendar. (Briefs here; oral argument video here.)
United Riggers will address the issue whether a contractor may withhold retention payments when there is a good faith dispute of any kind between the contractor and a subcontractor, or only when the dispute relates to the retention itself. (Sixth District Court of Appeal Justice Patricia Bamattre-Manoukian is the pro tem.)
The opinion can be viewed Monday starting at 10:00 a.m.
