Seven-case June calendar will limit the term to 53 opinions

May 15, 2025

The Supreme Court announced its June calendar today. The seven arguments mean there will be only 53 opinions filed in the 2024-2025 term. The previous two terms had 58 and 55 opinions. (See here, here and here.)

Term total opinions in the 50s is apparently the new normal. The old normal saw a considerably larger output.

A more detailed report about the June calendar is coming later.
