“Telinar” next Tuesday on Cal Supreme Court’s Kwikset decision

February 11, 2011

This topic is not strictly in line with our usual coverage of the Supreme Court, but I’m taking the liberty of using our blog to get the word out on an upcoming ABA telephone seminar titled “California’s Kwikset Decision and Its Effect on Standing and Monetary Recovery under California Unfair Competition Laws.” This will be Tuesday, February 15, at noon Pacific Time. Best part? It’s free, even for non-ABA members.

Here’s the program description: In a state known for its consumer fraud class action cases, all of those who do business or litigate in California have been waiting for the state Supreme Court’s decision. The opinion decided an important question of standing in unfair competition cases. This timely panel will explore the consequences of the decision in terms of case strategies for plaintiffs and defendants, and will also debate the implications of the decision’s discussion of the monetary relief available under the unfair competition laws.

Moderator: Dale Giali, Howrey LLP
Panelists: Jeff LeVee, Jones Day; Lisa Perrochet, Horvitz & Levy; Jamie Speyer, Arnold & Porter LLP
