The Supreme Court and all state courts will be closed on Tuesday. The state and judicial holiday was previously known as César Chávez Day. Yesterday, because of a recent blockbuster New York Times report, the Legislature passed, and the Governor signed, AB 2156, which changes the March 31 holiday to “Farmworkers Day.”
For several years, August 26 has been “designated” as “California Farmworker Day” (Gov. Code section 6731; SB 721 (2021)), but it’s not a holiday.
