Sacramento courts building spray-painted during protests [Updated]

May 31, 2020

Photos (below) in the Sacramento Bee and on Twitter show damage to the Stanley Mosk Library and Courts Building in Sacramento, during one of many nationwide protests over the killing of George Floyd.  The building, which was renovated seven years ago, is home to the Third District Court of Appeal and, during non-pandemic times, hosts occasional Supreme Court arguments.

There was also damage reported at the Ronald Reagan State Building in Los Angeles that is the Second District’s home and is another site of periodic, non-pandemic Supreme Court hearings.

Update:  The Judicial Council shared this photo of people identified as volunteers cleaning the spray painting.
