Quiet Thursday: no conference this week; no opinions today; no September calendar announced

August 6, 2020

There’s usually a lot of Supreme Court news to report on Thursdays — results from the court’s Wednesday conference and, often, newly filed opinions.

But this is the one week in August that the court didn’t hold a conference and the court didn’t file any opinions today.

This will likely be the only quiet Thursday for the month, however.  There are conferences scheduled for the rest of the Wednesdays in August, and 12 opinions still remain to be filed this month on only seven regular filing days.

Also due soon is the court’s announcement of its next oral argument calendar, which will be held the first week of September.  Because 20 days is the minimum notice of arguments, expect to see the calendar by the middle of next week.
