Prop. 8 case to be argued September 6

The Supreme Court today ordered the Prop. 8 case on calendar for September 6 at 10:00 a.m. The court has not yet published its September calendar, leading us to guess that the Prop. 8 case might be heard all by itself on that day. The court is scheduled to hear oral arguments the following day just down the street at the University of California Hastings College of Law. If Goodwin Liu is confirmed and sworn in as the newest justice on August 31, the Prop. 8 argument will likely be his first as a member of the court. Nothing like a quiet, low-profile case to break in the new guy.
