Lyle Moran reported in yesterday’s Daily Journal [subscription] that the California Lawyers Association recently awarded the Bernard E. Witkin Medal to not-so-recently-retired Justice Kathryn Werdegar. The award was presented by Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye, who joked that, to deal with Governor Jerry Brown’s long delay in naming Justice Werdegar’s successor, the remaining justices “just pretend Kay is on vacation.”
