Justice Liu praises law school diversity efforts

June 30, 2025

The Korean language The Law Times has published an interview with Justice Goodwin Liu, who was visiting Korea at the invitation of the Korea Legislation Research Institute.

Among other issues, Justice Liu was asked how the American legal profession has integrated individuals with varied and different backgrounds. Liu responded that “U.S. law schools have made substantial efforts to includ[e] students from groups historically excluded or underrepresented in the law. Those efforts have resulted in greater racial and ethnic diversity in the legal profession, but there is still much work to do to ensure that all groups feel included in law schools and the legal profession. This includes making sure that all students feel welcome in speaking freely and expressing their views, without fear of being canceled or ostracized.”
