Justice Kelli Evans is not in the Los Angeles courtroom this morning for the start of the Supreme Court’s June calendar. She will be participating remotely today and tomorrow.
It’s not quite routine for justices to be only virtually present for the court’s hearings, but it’s not that unusual either. (See, e.g., here and here.) Since the COVID pandemic made remote participation a necessity, having counsel or a justice appear on a video screen is no big deal.
