Historical Society program on dissent during the Red Scares

July 13, 2026

The California Supreme Court Historical Society will co-sponsor another program at the end of the month.  The July 30 webinar, from noon to 1:00 p.m., is “Dissent in 1900s California:   Courageous Clients, Lawyers, and Judges.”

The presenters are John Caragozian and Professor Nat Stern.  The program is described this way, “Californians with unpopular views suffered during the Twentieth Century’s First and Second Red Scares. What civil liberties protections were—or were not—afforded by government officials, judges, and lawyers affected not only California, but the whole nation.”

Registration is here.

The program is free for all, except non-Society members pay $25 if they want MCLE credit.
