The lawsuit to block the sale to private investors of state buildings — including the buildings housing the Supreme Court and First District Court of Appeal in San Francisco and the Second District Court of Appeal in Los Angeles — may have been mooted today. (We’ve written about the litigation, most recently here.) The San Francisco Chronicle reports that Governor Brown has scuttled the sale.
For now, the case is still pending in the Sixth District Court of Appeal; briefing is not yet complete there. Cancellation of the sale should moot the case, but the Chronicle article says the petitioners’ lawyer wants to continue the lawsuit “in hopes of preventing such sales in the future.”
