Former Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye is one of over 100 retired California jurists in a project sponsored by the California Judges Association’s Retired Judges Initiative “to affirm the vital importance of an independent judiciary and the rule of law,” a news release says.

The release also reports that the judges “hope[ ] to model and inspire similar groups of state court judges throughout the country to reinforce the message that judicial independence is not a privilege for judges.”
A video of many of the judges donning their robes and renewing their oaths of office is here.
