“Firm tells state high court it’s in bounds of new legal ethics rule”

October 10, 2019

Justin Kloczko reports in today’s Daily Journal about a law firm’s response to a Supreme Court order raising ethical issues regarding the firm’s handling of a death penalty appeal pending before the court, People v. Fayed.  A deputy district attorney who had prosecuted the defendant in the case later became a partner in the law firm currently representing the defendant on appeal.  The article says the firm has assured the court that “it properly walled off the attorney from involvement in the matter.”
