Chief Justice will finally deliver her first “State of the Judiciary” address to the Legislature this Monday

March 14, 2012

As noted in this press release, Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye will deliver her first “State of the Judiciary” address to a joint session of the Legislature on Monday, March 19, at 4:00 p.m. The address will be broadcast and webcast live on the California Channel.

You may recall that, as noted here, the Chief was most recently slated to deliver her address last June, but the Legislature postponed it due to ongoing budget discussions. Those discussions resulted in major funding cuts for the judicial branch, cuts the Chief has repeatedly decried, including in a recent address to court leaders and in her annual address to the State Bar. So expect those cuts, and the need to reverse them, to be the central theme of the Chief’s address to the Legislature.
