Earlier this week, Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye held her annual meeting with the press, this time remotely. Coverage included:
Chief justice optimistic about next budget — Malcolm Maclachlan in the Daily Journal.
California Judiciary Leaders Talk Plans to Unclog Post-Pandemic Backlogs and the ‘Tower of Babel’ Approach to Remote Access — Ross Todd in The Recorder.
California Chief Justice Sees Many Court Pandemic Changes as Permanent —
The Daily Journal article quotes the Chief Justice as saying, “All options are on the table,” when she was asked whether she expects to run for another 12-year term in 2022. (Last year, the Chief Justice was more positive; she said she was planning to stand for reelection.) Also, she was less than complimentary about voter-passed laws, stating, “I haven’t seen clear language in an initiative, ever.”
