What didn’t make the news, because it’s nothing new, is that the Chief Justice is very happy with her colleagues. She said that the Supreme Court “is blessed with brilliant, collegial, thoughtful people” and that the justices “have trust with each other.” The Chief Justice declined to take credit for the collegiality at the court, instead pointing in part to the “rigorous” “vetting process” for Supreme Court justices in California. Cantil-Sakauye also reported that it “was very easy for [the justices] to become a remote court” during the pandemic.
