Craig Anderson reports in the Daily Journal on Chief Justice Patricia Guerrero’s dissents in four cases during the 2024-2025 term (see here, here, here, and here). (I’m quoted in the article.)
“Although the court still usually rules unanimously,” the article says, “Guerrero’s recent dissents stand out — not only because she has written more than any other justice in 2025, but also because of their unusually sharp critiques for a court known for its collegial tone.”
Some of the Chief Justice’s “critiques” (especially in the People v. Fletcher case) might have been “sharp[er]” than usual for the court in the last decade or so, but they register on the low end of the nationwide appellate harshness scale.
