The Bay Area chapter of the American Constitution Society will present the program “California Supreme Court Year in Review: 2023.”
The January 31, 2024, San Francisco event will feature David Carrillo (Executive Director, California Constitution Center and Lecturer in Residence, UC Berkeley School of Law), Aimee Feinberg (Partner, Munger, Tolles & Olson), and Neil Sawhney (Director of Appellate Advocacy, ACLU of Northern California). Sam Harbourt (Deputy Solicitor General, California Department of Justice) will moderate.
The ACS says the panel will discuss “the most important decisions handed down by the California Supreme Court over the past year [and] will share their insights on the decisions and other recent developments at the Court, including ways that the Court differs from the U.S. Supreme Court. The panelists will also take questions about recent trends and cases at the Court.”
[December 15 update: last week, one of the expected panelists — Aimee Feinberg — was appointed to the Court of Appeal. Because of that development, Feinberg will not participate in the program. Taking her place will be Aileen McGrath, a partner at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld.]
