The Supreme Court announced today that next Wednesday’s oral arguments, which were scheduled to be heard in Redding, will instead be conducted at the court’s San Francisco home. When the Redding arguments were announced 13 days ago, they were billed as the court “continuing its tradition of holding annual outreach sessions in locations across the state.”
Today’s court news release says the switch is “due to unforeseen circumstances.”
The news release also says, “The court regrets that it is unable to visit Redding at this time, and it plans on conducting a special outreach session in Redding in a future court year.”
Rule 8.524(c) provides, “The Supreme Court clerk must send notice of the time and place of oral argument to all parties at least 20 days before the argument date. The Chief Justice may shorten the notice period for good cause; in that event, the clerk must immediately notify the parties by telephone or other expeditious method.” (Emphases added.)
