The Sacramento Bee is reporting that Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye of the Third Appellate District will be nominated as the next Chief Justice of the California Supreme Court. The nomination is a bit of a surprise, as it defies the conventional wisdom that Gov. Schwarzenegger would nominate someone with experience as a presiding justice on the Court of Appeal. But credit goes to Nate Scott of Southern California Appellate News, who listed Justice Cantil-Sakauye among his “elite eight” candidates for the nomination.
