The Supreme Court has a new webpage — “Using AI? Read This First.” (The Courts of Appeal have the same information on their websites, too.)
The webpage instructs, “Generative AI is a tool that can help you write or explain things, but it can make mistakes. Use it carefully—especially for legal issues.” It’s geared toward pro per litigants, but it does include advice that some lawyers have disregarded, like, “Double-check anything AI gives you.”
The page also includes the disclaimer that “[t]he judicial branch does not support or recommend any AI tools or products,” and has these warnings:
