On December 22, the Commission on Judicial Appointments will hold a hearing on Governor Brown’s appointment of Leondra Kruger to the California Supreme Court. The Commission members are Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye, Attorney General Kamala Harris, and soon-to-retire Second District Court of Appeal Presiding Justice Joan Dempsey Klein.
If, as is likely, the Commission confirms Kruger’s appointment, she will join the court in time for its January oral argument calendar and the parade of pro tems will end.
The hearing on Kruger’s appointment is likely to be televised on the California Channel; the hearings for Chief Justice Cantil-Sakauye, Justice Liu, and Justice-elect Cuéllar were.
