The Supreme Court today ordered that David Tamman be reinstated as a California attorney.
After trying to cover up a client’s Ponzi scheme, Tamman was convicted in 2012 of conspiracy to obstruct justice, being an accessory after the fact to mail fraud and securities law violations, altering documents to influence a federal investigation, and aiding and abetting his client’s false testimony at an SEC deposition. He served a seven-year prison sentence.
The Ninth Circuit affirmed Tamman’s conviction and sentence. (U.S. v. Tamman (9th Cir. 2015) 782 F.3d 543.)
The California Supreme Court summarily disbarred Tamman in 2016. (See Business and Professions Code section 6102(c).)
