Yesterday’s oral arguments were the Supreme Court’s first hearings in Los Angeles in four years.

Merrill Balassone’s California Courts news release notes the court was “returning in 2023 to a newly renovated courtroom.” As part of the renovations, “the court made technological upgrades to its courtrooms in San Francisco, Sacramento, and Los Angeles to better facilitate livestreaming and remote oral arguments.”
Yesterday featured the inaugural use of a new video conferencing service for remote appearances. The news release reports that “[o]ne attorney appeared remotely during Tuesday’s session.”
