On Monday morning, the Supreme Court will file its opinion in County of Santa Clara v. Superior Court. (Briefs here; oral argument video here.)
This will be the second opinion in the nine cases argued in early-May. Six of the remaining cases should be decided by August 7. Because of post-argument briefing, the opinion in the other case — People v. Martinez — isn’t due until August 28.
In County of Santa Clara, when the court granted review in July 2022, it limited the issue to: “Is Santa Clara County immune under the Government Claims Act (Gov. Code, § 810 et seq.) from an action seeking reimbursement for emergency medical care provided to persons covered by the county’s health care service plan?” Horvitz & Levy represents the real parties in interest in the Supreme Court.
The opinion can be viewed Monday starting at 10:00 a.m.
