The Daily Journal chose the Supreme Court’s decision in Guardianship of Saul H. (2022) 13 Cal.5th 827 (see here) as one of the “Top Verdicts of 2022.” The annual list includes “top verdicts by dollar, impact, defense victories and appellate reversals.”
Saul H. was an “appellate reversal,” and the only Supreme Court case on the 46-case list. Disagreeing with both the superior court and the Court of Appeal, the Supreme Court made things easier for undocumented children to obtain from California courts the findings federal law requires to apply for immigration relief that creates a pathway to permanent resident status.
