Los Angeles Times article discusses Justice Liu’s first year on the Court

October 23, 2012

Today’s Los Angeles Times carries this excellent piece by Maura Dolan about Justice Goodwin Liu’s first year on the bench. We have discussed Justice Liu and his appointment to California’s high court several times, most recently here. Dolan’s article sheds new light on Justice Liu, discussing how Governor Brown approached him about a seat on the Court, Liu’s relations with his fellow justices, his transition from academia to the judiciary, his demonstrated penchant for judicial restraint, and his practice (unusual on the Court) of employing annual law clerks.
