Public Counsel dedicates Ronald M. George Public Interest Library

On Tuesday, Los Angeles’s Public Counsel Law Center, the largest pro bono law firm in the country, dedicated its new Ronald M. George Public Interest Library in honor of the former Chief Justice, who served from 1996 until 2011. In his remarks at the dedication, Chief Justice George said, “The four decades of Public Counsel has coincided with my four decades of judicial service, and public access and access to justice has always been in the forefront of my efforts . . . As chief justice I was able to encourage different efforts to try to expand access to the public as well, and often those dovetailed with Public Counsel.” The former Chief added that efforts such as this, to expand the public’s access to justice, are particularly crucial in these times of massive budget cuts, which threaten to close the courthouse doors.
