Tomorrow, the Supreme Court will file its opinion in People v. Gomez, an automatic direct appeal from a March 2000 judgment of death. (Briefs here; oral argument video here.) Gomez will be the first of three September calendar death penalty appeals that the court decides. Second District, Division Two, Presiding Justice Elwood Lui is the pro tem.
