Horvitz & Levy has published the 2024 edition of its MICRA Manual, a comprehensive analysis of California law concerning the Medical Injury Compensation Reform Act of 1975, as amended by Assembly Bill No. 35 (2021–2022 Reg. Sess.) (AB 35), effective January 1, 2023. The updated manual covers recent appellate decisions and includes two new appendices. The first appendix lists the annual MICRA limits on noneconomic damages in personal injury and wrongful death cases pursuant to the AB 35 amendments. The second is a quick reference guide regarding how MICRA applies in different litigation contexts.
The firm has also published the 2024 edition of its Evidence Code Section 1157 Manual, the only comprehensive analysis of the California statute governing confidentiality of information generated during hospital medical peer review proceedings.
