The U.S. and California Supreme Courts might have pickiness in common

Piper Hinson joined the firm in 2025 as part of Horvitz & Levy’s Appellate Fellowship Program. As a Fellow, she assists in drafting appellate briefs, motions, and letters to the court. She also supports other Horvitz & Levy attorneys by researching complex legal issues, drafting publication requests and legal memoranda, and cite-checking briefs and motions.

Piper graduated magna cum laude from Southwestern Law School.  In law school, she served as Editor-in-Chief of The Southwestern Law Review and Academic Chair of the Moot Court Honors Program. In Moot Court, each of her teams was awarded Best Brief honors, she was named Best Advocate at the ABA National Appellate Advocacy Competition and her team won the Boston Regional Championship. In addition, Piper was a Dean’s Fellow, research assistant, teaching assistant, and extern to the Honorable Otis D. Wright II. In her final year, she was part of the Appellate Litigation Clinic where she drafted part of an opening and reply brief and argued a case before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Piper sang the National Anthem at her law school graduation ceremony at the Pasadena Rose Bowl.

Piper graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Industry. Prior to entering law school, she worked as a model, actor and musician.

Piper is admitted to practice law in the State of California.
