Insurers, public companies, and government entities rely on Peter Abrahams to handle complex appeals, often those involving multi-million dollar damages awards. Peter has served as lead counsel in hundreds of cases in the California Court of Appeal, the California Supreme Court, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Peter’s successes include the reversal of a $12 million judgment in Baker v. National Interstate Insurance Company (2009) and a win before the Ninth Circuit in Northrup Grumman Corp. v. Factory Mut. Ins Co. (2008), a case involving a dispute over insurance coverage for $1 billion in damage caused by Hurricane Katrina.
Peter is a partner at the firm and prior to joining Horvitz & Levy was a name partner with O’Flaherty, Abrahams & Carl. Earlier, he served as a research attorney at the California Court of Appeal, Second Appellate District. He is admitted to practice before California state courts, the Ninth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.
Peter is the author or co-author of articles on civil procedure and appellate law topics, and has been a frequent Continuing Education of the Bar lecturer.
