Horvitz & Levy has been honored to receive the California Lawyer Attorneys of the Year (CLAY) award five times since its inception in 1996. 

The firm won its first award for Bary Levy, Lisa Perrochet, and Curt Cutting's success in Border Business Park, Inc. v. City of San Diego (2006), where they obtained a reversal of a $91.7 million inverse condemnation verdict against the City of San Diego. The second was for Lisa Perrcohet and David Axelrad’s victory in Kirk v. First American Title Insurance Company (2010), where they represented First American Title Insurance Company and its law firm Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal in an appeal to reverse an order disqualifying Sonnenschein from defending First American in class actions. Next, Jeremy Rosen was recognized for Escobedo v. Apple American Group (2015), where he and the Pepperdine Law School Ninth Circuit Appellate Clinic convinced the Ninth Circuit to reverse the dismissal of a Title VII lawsuit.  Last year, Steve Norris, Jason Litt, and former Horvitz & Levy attorney Joshua McDaniel received the award for Sandoval v. Qualcomm Inc. (2021), the latest case in a ten-part series in which the Supreme Court limited the liability of property owners for work-related injuries sustained by contractors' employees. This year, the firm received a CLAY award for the work of David Ettinger, Beth Jay, and Chris Hu in Guardianship of Saul H., where they persuaded the California Supreme Court to reverse a Court of Appeal decision that had limited the ability of immigrant children to seek permanent resident status in the United States.
