LEARN MORE ABOUT HORVITZ & LEVY

Even though we are appellate lawyers, we also work in the federal and state trial courts, laying the foundation for an appeal before a notice of appeal is filed. We consult with trial lawyers with an eye toward preserving important legal issues for appeal. We draft critical pre-trial motions, like motions for summary judgment and motions in limine, in an effort to secure a victory in the trial court before a verdict is returned. And if an adverse verdict is returned, we often draft important post-trial motions to obtain any possible relief from the trial judge.

High-stakes cases sometimes demand a watchful appellate eye during the trial itself. We work alongside trial counsel to ensure that any important issues that arise during trial are properly framed and preserved for appeal. We draft important motions during trial. We prepare jury verdict forms and jury instructions, which often provide a fertile ground for successful appellate issues. We also provide behind-the-scenes legal research for trial lawyers, who are frequently too busy to devote the time and resources necessary to research important legal issues that may arise during trial.

It’s never too soon to begin thinking about how your case can be won on appeal.
