U.S. Supreme Court grants Horvitz & Levy cert. petition.
February 22, 2011
The United States Supreme Court has granted the petition for writ of certiorari prepared by Horvitz & Levy LLP in Pacific Operators Offshore, LLP v. Valladolid.
The case involves the federal Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act, which governs activities on oil drilling platforms more than three miles offshore. Workers injured on the platforms may obtain federal workers’ compensation benefits under the Act. The issue presented in this case is whether workers may obtain those benefits when they are injured on land.
The case will be argued in the fall. A copy of the petition may be reviewed here.
