Horvitz & Levy partner Lisa Perrochet named as a 2010 Attorney of the Year.
December 21, 2010
The Recorder, one of California’s leading legal newspapers, has named Horvitz & Levy partner Lisa Perrochet one of its 2010 Attorneys of the Year. The list includes 19 California lawyers, each of whom obtained a headline-grabbing victory in 2010. Scott Graham, The Recorder’s editor in chief, said “[t]his year’s winners are marked by their perseverance—whether fighting long odds, persuading courts to reconsider their own rulings, or getting great trial results in high-profile, high-pressure situations.”
Ms. Perrochet was recognized for her role as the lead appellate attorney in Kirk v. First American Title Insurance Company, in which the California Court of Appeal held that law firms can use effective ethical screening procedures to avoid automatic disqualification of the entire firm when one member of the firm has a conflict of interest warranting disqualification. The case attracted numerous amicus briefs and the decision was the subject of widespread coverage in the legal media.
This is the second time Ms. Perrochet has been named as an “Attorney of the Year” by a California legal publication. In 2007, she received a CLAY Award (California Lawyer Attorneys of the Year) from California Lawyer Magazine for her role in securing a major victory for the City of San Diego in Border Business Park v. City of San Diego.
Profiles of all 19 of this year’s Attorneys of the Year will appear in the March 7 edition of The Recorder.
