Bedrosian v. Tenet Healthcare Corp.
(Oct. 28, 2003, B166742), modified November 25, 2003
Defendant Tenet Healthcare Corp.
hired Horvitz & Levy LLP to prepare a petition for rehearing
after the Court of Appeal filed an unpublished opinion holding
that, under an employment contract with plaintiff, a former
company executive, Tenet owed plaintiff certain stock benefits
worth $141,115,125, plus an additional $111,886,894 in prejudgment
interest accruing since April 1995.
In response to the petition filed by Horvitz
& Levy LLP, the court modified its opinion to hold that
prejudgment interest accrued from October 2002, rather from
April 1995. As a result, the court lowered the prejudgment
interest award from $111,886,894 to $6,804,455, saving the
client $105,082,439.
