Law Clerk Positions
Horvitz
& Levy LLP employs law clerks throughout the year to thoroughly
cite-check all its appellate briefs and other substantive
legal documents before filing with the courts. Generally,
our law clerks are students at local law schools. The job
calls for close attention to detail and strong analytical
skills, and we prefer applicants with excellent academic credentials
and law review or moot court experience.
Law
clerks primarily assist in preparing appellate briefs by proofreading
drafts, checking the accuracy and citation format of each
legal and record citation, using online services to verify
the status of cited cases, and performing some substantive
legal research. Law clerks also may travel to courts to review
court files and assist attorneys in preparing for oral argument
or writing articles for publication.
Although
our law clerks do not serve as "summer associates,"
law clerk experience at Horvitz & Levy LLP not only tends
to improve a law student's legal research and writing skills,
it provides unique exposure to the practice of civil appellate
law.
Because
most of our law clerks are law students, we offer both part-time
and full-time employment. Most of our law clerks work part-time
during the school year and full-time during the summer. We
are willing to consider flexible work schedules. Resumes should
be sent with a cover letter to the firm, attention of the
Law Clerk Coordinator. To submit a resume by e-mail, please
send it (with cover letter) to Law
Clerk Coordinator.
