Attorney Careers
Horvitz
& Levy LLP offers a unique opportunity for attorneys desiring
to specialize in civil appellate practice. The firm sponsors
an ongoing training program in appellate procedure and brief
writing for new associates. Under the supervision of an editing
attorney, new associates begin drafting appellate briefs upon
joining the firm, and generally have the opportunity to participate
in oral arguments soon thereafter.
With over 30 attorneys handling almost
exclusively appellate matters, Horvitz & Levy LLP offers a
highly congenial environment for attorneys to learn and practice
appellate law.
Because of the unique nature of its
appellate practice, Horvitz & Levy LLP seeks to hire attorneys
with a strong interest in civil appellate work and superior
legal analysis and writing skills. Generally, the firm's associates
graduated near the top of their respective law school classes;
worked on a law review, other journal, or participated in
moot court; and have had appellate court clerkships or at
least one or two years of litigation experience before joining
the firm. We ordinarily do not hire associates directly out
of law school, but attorneys have joined us directly from
federal appellate court clerkships.
The application process begins with
submission of a resume to the firm's recruiting coordinator.
If an applicant's credentials appear to meet our hiring criteria,
we request the submission of a legal writing sample. Those
applicants whose writing is clear, concise, and well-organized
are invited to proceed with interviews at the firm. Resumes
submitted by mail should be sent to the firm, attention of
the Recruiting Coordinator. If you are interested in submitting
a resume by e-mail, please send it to hiring@horvitzlevy.com.
