Margaret Thomas joined the firm in
2007. She is admitted to practice in California state
courts, as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the
Ninth Circuit, and the U.S. District Court for the
Northern District of California.
Prior to joining Horvitz & Levy, Ms.
Thomas held judicial clerkships for two years with the Honorable
Pamela Ann Rymer, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit,
and one year with the Honorable George H. King, U.S. District
Court for the Central District of California. Prior to clerking,
she was an associate at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart Oliver & Hedges.
Ms. Thomas graduated summa cum laude
from Amherst College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in
German Literature and European Studies. She received her
Juris Doctor from Boalt Hall School of Law, University
of California, Berkeley, and was elected to the Order of
the Coif. While at Boalt, Ms. Thomas was a member of the
California Law Review, and she served as book review editor.
Upon graduation, she received the law school’s Thelen
Marrin writing prize, recognizing the faculty’s selection
for the year’s best published student work.
