Daniel Gonzalez joined the firm in
1984 and became a partner in 1990. He is admitted
to practice in California state courts, U.S. Court
of Appeals, Fourth Circuit, U.S. Court of Appeals,
Ninth
Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
Prior to joining Horvitz & Levy, Mr. Gonzalez was
an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Central District of
California, Criminal Division, and before that, a Deputy
City Attorney for the City of Los Angeles. Earlier,
he held a judicial clerkship with the Hon. Joseph H.
Young, United States District Court Judge, District
of Maryland.
Mr. Gonzalez
has briefed and supervised the briefing in over 200
civil and criminal appeals and writ proceedings in
the state and federal courts. He has argued as lead
appellate counsel in four cases before the California
Supreme Court, most recently in Prachasaisoradej
v. Ralphs Grocery Company, Inc. (2007) 42
Cal.4th 217, where the Court upheld the legality of
profit-based
compensation
under
California's wage laws.
