| RECENT DEVELOPMENTS REGARDING PUBLICATION OF THE MICRA MANUAL The Horvitz & Levy 2006 edition of the MICRA Manual remains current and requires no revision. The one case of note in the MICRA area is Mayes v. Bryan (2006) 139 Cal.App.4th 1075, 1097-1103, modified 143 Cal.App.4th 1557a. There, the Court of Appeal held that when a settling codefendant is covered by MICRA, the trial court properly calculates the percentage of noneconomic damages in the verdict after reducing the noneconomic damages to $250,000. Mayes is analyzed further in the healthcare portion of our Annual Review. (Click here to see the healthcare chapter of our 17th Annual Review.) The 17th Annual Review is available on our website (click here to go to the complete Annual Review by chapter) or you may contact us to obtain a searchable pdf file of the Annual Reveiw on CD-ROM.
