How Elena Helps Clients

Elena V. Cordonean joined the firm in 2023 as part of Horvitz & Levy’s Appellate Fellowship Program. As a Fellow, she assists in drafting appellate briefs, motions, and letters to the court. She also supports other Horvitz & Levy attorneys by researching complex legal issues, drafting legal memoranda, developing articles for publication, and cite-checking briefs and motions.

Elena obtained her Juris Doctorate degree from Southwestern Law School. While in law school, she served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Southwestern Law Review and academic chair of the board of governors for the Moot Court Honors Program. In 2023, Elena was selected to participate in the Southwestern Amicus Project, filed her first Amicus Brief with the United States Supreme Court in support of Petitioner in Counterman v. Colorado (2023) 600 U.S. 66, and was interviewed by Bloomberg Law for the Cases and Controversies Podcast. During law school, Elena also competed at the William B. Spong, Jr. William & Mary Law School National Competition and the 21st Annual Leroy R. Hassell, Sr. National Constitutional Law Moot Court Competition, where she and her team placed as National Finalists.  

Before law school, Elena earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the State University of Moldova and two master’s degrees in political science, international relations and public administration from the Academy of Public Administration of Moldova and the State University of Moldova.
